Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown in the marl-rich soils of Ritoznoj in Lower Styria (Štajerska), this wine is a vivid expression of place and varietal. The vineyards, planted at 340 meters above sea level on sandy-clay terrain with southern exposure, benefit from a continental climate marked by dry, hot summers and snowy winters. Vines are densely planted at 5,000 per hectare, yielding just 2 kg per vine. Farming is sustainable and deeply respectful of the land—no irrigation, no herbicides, and adherence to Slovenia’s stringent integrative viticulture standards. Grapes are hand-harvested and vinified with minimal intervention: 15% are macerated on skins throughout fermentation, while the remaining 85% are directly pressed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, followed by five months of aging on fine lees in stainless steel.
With 22 hectares under vine, the family produces around 6,000 cases annually, focusing on varietals indigenous to Štajerska such as Traminer, Gelber Muskateller, Laški Riesling, Sylvaner, and Modra Frankinja. Still, it is Dorcha’s Sauvignon Blanc that captures one of the most compelling voices of the varietal in the region today—dynamic, terroir-driven, and full of soul.
Golden in hue, the wine opens with an exotic aromatic profile of rich tropical fruits, flint, and subtle spice. The palate is lively and expressive, balancing generous fruit with vivid minerality and finishing with a bright beam of acidity and a gentle phenolic grip—a result of the partial skin contact. This is an energetic and distinctive Sauvignon Blanc, full of vitality and character.
Ideal alongside fresh goat cheese, seared scallops, grilled shrimp, or citrus-dressed ceviche. The wine’s vibrant acidity and exotic fruit notes also complement Thai dishes and herb-driven Mediterranean cuisine beautifully.
