Wines with low sulphites

Low Sulphites

Sulphites are a group of compounds that are added to wine as a preservative. They occur naturally in grapes but can also be added in the form of sulphur dioxide (SO2). SO2 is a key component in the wine-making process as it prevents the growth of bacteria and protects the wine from oxidation. Low-sulphate wine is a wine that has had the sulphites removed or has never had them added in the first place. Sustainability Low-sulphate wine can also have environmental benefits. Sulphites are often used in large quantities and can contribute to pollution and waste. By reducing or eliminating sulphites, winemakers can produce wine that is more sustainable and eco-friendly.
