Philippe Brisebarre has 25 hectares in Vouvray, making a full range of styles. The domaine's sandstone-cliff cellars in the village have matured a range of older vintages, like this special, dry, Cuvée Amedée.

Challenge 21 - You must be 18 or over to buy alcohol. You must not buy alcohol on behalf of those under 18. We apply the "Challenge 21" policy to all delivery and collection orders. We will not supply if the person receiving or collecting orders appears under the age of 21.
Orders placed before 1pm each day Monday – Friday will be despatched the same day as long as the stock is in immediate availability. For some items, we may need to get stock from our stores which could delay despatch by 1 day (2 days in some situations)
Items in stock will be despatched on the same day and delivered via courier. This will usually be delivered on the following working day but please allow one extra day if this is not possible. Deliveries to Scotland & non UK mainland will usually be delivered in 2-3 working days.
We charge a flat fee of £6.90 for delivery if your order is under 20kg and £10 inc-VAT if the order is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £100 (inc VAT).
We aim to ship items within the same working day but always within 2 working days, subject to the order being placed before 1pm and subject to the availability of stock. *If stock is not available at our warehouse and needs to come back from one of our stores before we ship to you, your order may take up to 5 working days to be shipped – whether that is to your delivery address or to one of our stores.
We want all our cusomers to be 100% happy with their order and it is our aim to ensure that all orders are supplied to our customers arrive in perfect condition. You have the right to cancel your order at any time without being charged for the goods ordered within 14 days of purchase.

If you call us after your item has shipped, we will be unable to cancel it and you will need to return to us. Vigneron Philippe Brisebarre started working with his father at the age of 16. The cellar is above the town of Vouvray and all but 7 of the domaine's 25 hectares lie just adjacent. His cellar, like many others in the region, is a stone cave cut straight into a cliff of tuffeau, the soft yellow sandstone famous in the Loire Valley. The cave dates back to the 1500s, when it was originally a quarry then becoming a storage facility for ice, before the days of electricity. storing ice for refrigeration More recently it has been the cellar for the Brisebarre family domaine for several generations, from which he offers a wonderful array of older vintages in immaculate condition.
The distinctive local yellow tuffeau limestone and moderate climate provides the perfect environment for growing Chenin Blanc. Philippe works on a lutte raisonée basis in the vineyards, making treatments only when absolutely necessary. He prefers to harvest by machine, as this gives him the opportunity to pick his grapes rapidly at the optimum moment of ripeness without any loss of quality.
The grapes are gently pressed pneumatically and the must settled few hours before an initial filtration off gross lees, followed by a slow fermentation in old oak barrels of up to 20 years old. The fermentation can take as long as 5 months to complete, the wine remaining in barrel for a year in total before bottling.
Grape: 100% Chenin
Tasting Note: A white of great complexity with notes of ripe apple, a touch of quince and a delicate nutty finish. A Medium-bodied dry white of great character and depth which offers incredible value after a decade in bottle.
Food Match: Ideal with pork belly or a smoked salmon and lemon risotto.
